Lilydale is a suburb located in the eastern part of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. With a population of over 15,000, it is a small but bustling community with lots of interesting features. Here are some facts about the suburb that you may not know:

- Lilydale is the gateway to the Yarra Valley, one of the most popular wine regions in Australia, with over 100 vineyards and wineries, as well as gourmet food producers, orchards and gardens. Visitors can enjoy scenic drives, hot air balloon rides, or bike tours through the picturesque countryside.

- The Lilydale Lake is a popular recreational spot that covers 28 hectares and has a 3.5 km walking track, as well as BBQ facilities, picnic areas, fishing and a playground for kids.

- The suburb has a rich history, being originally home to the Wurundjeri people for thousands of years before European settlement. Early settlers in the area were attracted to the fertile soil and mild climate, which made it ideal for fruit-growing. The area became known as the 'Fruit Bowl of Melbourne' and the Lilydale Farmer's Market is still popular today.

- Another attraction of Lilydale is the Heritage Railway Station, which is part of the famous Puffing Billy Railway that runs between Belgrave and Gembrook, passing through the Dandenong Ranges National Park. The station is a popular spot for photographers and train enthusiasts.
